In 1954, Carambar was created in Marcq-en-Baroeul, Northern France, in the chocolate factory Delespaul-Havez, after what seemed to be a mistake.

Rumor has it that is by accident that a mixture of caramel and cocoa has dropped in a defective machine. The origin of the name Caram’bar comes from the fact that this machine has produced caramel bars and has cut them to the desired length.

Today, this candy is available into different flavors like coton candy and a “touch of humor” for children is printed inside each package.
